At the heart of the weekend was the 51st annual James J. Hill Days festival in Wayzata, a cherished event drawing tens of thousands of visitors from across the region. Attendees enjoyed live music, a diverse array of food vendors, and interactive family-friendly activities, all set against the backdrop of Lake Minnetonka’s shoreline. The festival not only celebrated local heritage but also reinforced the lake’s role as a central hub for recreation, community, and culture.
Complementing the festivities was the 49th Annual Real Runabouts Rendezvous at Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge on September 5 and 6. This event, a haven for boating enthusiasts, highlighted classic wooden runabouts, allowing visitors to admire meticulously restored boats while mingling with fellow enthusiasts. The rendezvous underscores Lake Minnetonka’s long-standing reputation as a haven for boating and lake life, bridging the past with the present in a celebration of craftsmanship and leisure.
