For the weekend of Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1 (Labor Day), 2025
Highlighted Events & Activities
1. Minnesota State Fair – Final Weekend
The iconic Minnesota State Fair wraps up on Labor Day, September 1. Expect a wide variety of new food offerings (think Afro Bean Pops, Dill Pickle Iced Tea, Chicken-Fried Bacon Fries, etc.), grandstand concerts—including The Avett Brothers & The Milk Carton Kids on August 29, and family-friendly programming right up to closing.
This is a major draw, only about a 30–40-minute drive from Lake Minnetonka.
2. James J. Hill Days – Not Quite Yet
This beloved Wayzata festival, featuring the Lake Minnetonka Carnival, craft beer (Rails & Ales), food vendors, music, and more, runs from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7—so just after your requested dates.
3. Outdoor Recreation & Attractions
Dakota Rail Regional Trail: A scenic 13–14-mile biking and walking trail winding through several Lake Minnetonka towns—perfect for a peaceful, active outing.
Boating, Paddleboarding, and Cruises: Enjoy boating, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding on the lake. Excursion cruises like Al & Alma's dinner or sightseeing cruises provide a leisurely alternative.
Old Log Theatre (Greenwood) and Noerenberg Gardens (Orono) are lovely cultural or nature stops across the lake.
Bonus Ideas (Local Class & Fitness Options)
Gentle Yoga at Robinson’s Bay Beach runs Mondays through August 25—not on your weekend but great for awareness.
No Pilates or SUP yoga events on the specific weekend were found. However, local studios like Club Pilates or YogaSix in Minnetonka offer ongoing classes.
